If the original wasn’t big enough, DFTD are set to throw three remixes of NiCe7’s ‘Time to get Physical’ into an offering due out at the end of the month.
Since the huge success of ‘Point’ in 2011, NiCe7 have released on Noir and Suara seeing support from Jamie Jones, Seth Troxler, Luciano and Solomun to name a few. Having teamed up with Pirupa to start their own label D-FLOOR, the Italian duo are back once again with Defected for this remix package of their 2012 original.
First to lay down is English wonderkid Bontan. After his debut EP dropped via Pleasurekraft’s Kraftek imprint his rise to the top of the underground has plotted a course that has featured releases on Toolroom and Great Stuff and had his tracks played live by Bondax and Pete Tong among others. His rendition of Time to Get Physical is everything you’d expect from the young, deep house maestro, with bounce by the ounce and deft usage of the original vocal.
Next up steps Sonny Fodera. Best known for his collaborations with Cajmere and releases on his Cajual Records imprint, Fodera has gone from strength to strength teaming up with Defected and off-shoot DFTD. Deep and ethereal, expert pad-work and crisp drums overlay a moody bass line and creative vocal sampling.
Last of the remixes comes from eclectic, Greek DJ/producer Argy. From the off the an entirely different composition to the other three and adds an organic, vintage feel which in turn helps create a nice balance to the EP. A soulful track with a classic feel thanks to muted organs, bags of swish in the high end and ‘verbed vocal glimpses.
A strong quartet (the original included) and a worthy investment courtesy of DFTD; available on the 31st March.
