New Mantra – ‘Manzoni’

Introducing DJ and producer New Mantra, aka Sam Cooper. Djing and producing since the age of fifteen, he is currently based in Southampton and churning out some seriously chillin’ hip hop infused electronica!

Over the past year New Mantra has been gaining recognition online for his woozy and atmospheric compositions. Following the release of his first EP alongside fellow Southampton artist and songwriter Barnaby in April 2013, he went on to release his solo debut ‘Living Image Of Aten’. This solo debut soon began garnering attention online, receiving praise and recognition from various publications and websites, which led to further collaborations for the producer: this time with Croatian singer/songwriter Tamara Saul.

Influenced by artists such as J Dilla, The Alchemist and Kanye West, on new track ‘Manzoni’ New Mantra delivers a super-chill beat structured somewhere between electronica and the hallowed halls of alternative hip hop/R&B. Smooth and mellow in tone, warm synth pads and a trickling beat pattern lull the listener into a daze whilst reverbed vocal samples echo the refrain ‘love you’.
