On Saturday 27th January 2018, mUmU will reach its momentous tenth birthday in Liverpool, with Mathias Kaden, Ryan Elliott, Gary Beck and original resident Lee Rands.
Through the year there will be 3 anniversary parties, with the following two to be revealed soon. The opening show is a celebration of the artists and friends who have become family to the club over 10 years of epic parties across the city and beyond.
It has been an incredible odyssey for one of the UK’s finest bastions of techno and house, a night which has diligently followed its own path, avoided passing trends and shaping a resolutely revered following who have given mUmU such a fervently loyal basis to flourish.
Over the years and across the city, helping to create this incredible decade, the team have brought a wide range of brilliant guests to the city and utilised a series of special spaces, from intimate clubs, warehouses and more adventurous settings both in Liverpool and around the world. Of particular note, Matthias Tanzmann, Marcel Dettmann b2b Ben Klock, Tale of Us, Enzo Siragusa and Cassy all stand out for contributing epic sets, and the Old Tobacco Warehouse, The Blackie and 3345 in Liverpool and Space and Fabric linger long in the memory as iconic venues where mUmU have curated their shows.
The first headliner is one of Europe’s most iconic names in house and techno, Mathias Kaden; the German DJ and producer crafts groove-heavy sets each and every time, and his set is hugely anticipated. Berghain and Panorama Bar resident Ryan Elliot is next up; a USA-born music purist who keeps dance floors pulsating, he keeps his focus on three key elements: kick drum, bassline and high hat. The third special guest is Gary Beck. Hailing from Glasgow, he is a regular guest at Womb, Fabric, Awakenings, Output and Timewarp, with releases on leading labels such as Drumcode, Cocoon and Saved as well as his own techno imprint BEK Audio. Lee Rands, mUmU’s resident from day one, also stars, and features at the after party too.
Reaching a decade takes mUmU into a whole new dimension, and they very much plan to celebrate in style at New Bird Street, bringing together all of the elements which have continued to make the night such a success – always on point music from the hand-picked headliners and new talent shining through, with a genuinely great group of people drawn both locally and from across the country.
