The Mouse Outfit are a six-piece hip hop band who’ve built their reputation with mellow jazz-infused hip hop beats topped by lyrics from some of Manchester’s finest upcoming emcees. Following a summer spent playing pretty much every festival they could fit into their schedule, both at home and abroad, the group come forward with a new dancefloor-shaker called ‘Power’.
Originally hailing from Manchester but now based in Bristol, for the majority of their shows The Mouse Outfit are represented by emcees Dr Syntax and Sparkz – however in total they have an entourage that lends itself well in to the double figures. Having spent the summer teasing fans with tracks from their forthcoming second album, now they drop the fresh and upbeat ‘Power’. With it’s oriental leanings and skippy drum beats, this is one we foresee taking dance floors by storm in the very near future!
On new single ‘Power’ Sparkz comes together with fellow Manny spitter Truthos Mufasa to deliver some upbeat and fantastical lyrics amidst a mystical and exotic beat that reflects The Mouse Outfit’s summer spent travelling abroad. If you check the video, this is taken a few steps further with both emcees appearing decorated in neon glow-in-the-dark face paint spitting a “liquorice monster rap” about “smoking a minotaur’ and being “armed to the teeth with an army of bees”; it’s truly weird and wonderful.
