London-based DJ and producer Villette has been making big strides in the electronic world these past few months.
In the time since we reviewed her remix of John Talabot’s ‘Without You’ she has launched her new label Injazero Records and been working on a new EP entitled ‘Crossed Wires’. Having made connections with Old Apparatus collective member LTO, whose track ‘Rebelarse’ was recently premiered by Boiler Room a few days ago, Villette has got him locked down to provide the first release in her new catalogue.
Coming forward now with her own reimagining of Kolsch’s 2014 smash ‘Cassiopieia’, to our pleasure the minimal techno producer has once again delivered an absolute beaut of a remix. Bringing out the hefty vibrato on Gregor Schwellenbach’s strings, Villette does away with the piano riffs (in which the strings were originally embedded) and focuses on creating a slow build: putting those charismatic, heart-tugging violins at the centre of her rework.
Sticking true to the mimimal, melodic and glitchy sound she has become known for, Villette manages to do the Kölsch original justice whilst staying true to her own individual style of sound. Released alongside beautiful artwork from Ayliz Ozturk, who specializes in zentangle, make sure to take a listen below and devour every tantilising moment of the track for yourself!
More is still to come! Expect a free download next month, as well as a few more singles and remixes to follow before ‘Crossed Wires’ hits the shelves this Autumn.
