So, JME teams up with Commodo on his latest release for Mala’s revered bass label Deep Medi. Since this one hit our inbox on Friday the internet’s been going mad for it, and fair play too really!
‘Shift’, Commodo’s latest track with JME, has been doing the rounds amongst dedicated heads on mixes, forums and blogs since the later days of summer. Following numerous online discussion and mix hunting by fans, two tracks – the original cut alongside the feature with JME – will finally be released on Mala’s Deep Medi Musik on November 17th.
Not only is the beat on ‘Shift’ of the typically slick, hench brand of dub roller we’ve come to expect from producer Commodo, but JME’s feature on the A-side brings things ahead even further with on-point lyrics on life and competition in the grime scene that assert an anti-aggro message, the crux of which is “don’t let your pride or ego take control”.
The straight instrumental cut, which sits on the flip side, stands up on its own equally well with a careful balance of thick and surly synths, hefty bass and crisp snares.
