Exclusive DJ chart from Weiss

2013 was an incredibly successful year for latest deep house sensation Weiss. After a string of essential hits brought him extensive support throughout clubs worldwide – including the setlists of dance dignitaries like Loco Dice, Richie Hawtin and DJ Sneak, as well as airplay on BBC Radio 1 not to mention local stations from London to Glasgow – the enigmatic producer is set to establish himself fully at the top of the pile in 2014.

With latest release ‘Guitar Man’, out now, Weiss exhibits why he’s making such waves. A jackin’ groove, floating vocal, swinging hats and plenty of reverb on a track that will no doubt continue to carve out plenty space in sets way into the New Year.

We at TNG are delighted to share with you an exclusive Top 10 chart from the man himself. Get ready to get poaching as Weiss runs us through all the current cuts that have got him hyped.

1. M.Bulwa – ‘Open Your Eyes (Alex Marcu Remix)’ – Hardcutz Records

“I think this guy is from Romania but what an excellent remix. Nice and deep with some chuck behind it. There are three remixes on this package, each with their own point of view but for me the Alex Marcu remix stands out.”

2. Dimi Wilson – ‘Atne Gamiso’ – Houseology Records

“I first got this promo back in 2013 June and have been playing ever since. It’s a real Hip Hop house kind of track with plenty of push that makes any dance floor get there boogie on. I especially love the way the producer has arranged and chopped up the hip hop vox sample, this gives it it’s coolness.”

3. Thomas Schumacher – ‘Hush (Catz N Dogz 2013 Remix)’

“What an amazing record that just lifts the crowd every time. It really reminds me of the old D:Tour records from back in the 90’s with that extra strong old school kick drum and the arrangement it very good. Dipping in and out of very quirky old school 90’s sounds that just keeps pounding and building right to the last minute.”

4. Weiss – ‘The Guitar Man’ – Toolroom Records

“This is one of my own that is doing really well at the moment in the clubs. A deep infused track with plenty of chunkiness behind itself with a very lush vocal sitting on top. It’s definitely one of my favourite tracks I’ve produced and I hope you guys like too.”

5. Soulphiction – ‘When Raio Was Boss (Jackmate Remix)’ – Pampa Records

“More a techno lead track for me but quite simple in its own right. When I say simple I don’t mean nothing to it but with this record less is more and it really works. Starting off with just a dark kick, from there it just keeps building and building with simple, cool sounds but very punchy and just comes out of the speakers with bollox! I especially love the string sample that lays on top being side chained, almost Daft Punk-style from their early days but a really good track.

6. Barbara Tucker – ‘I Get Lifted (Armand’s Lift Me Up Mix)’ – Strictly Rhythm

“An old track which I dug out the other day but just sounds so now. On a kind of Catz N Dogz “Hush” tip it pounds along using the old school Armand Van Helden beats. I played it the other day in the club and just sounded so good. The Barbara vocal is smooth and lifts you up at the right point every time.”

7. Weiss – ‘My Sister’ – Toolroom Records

“Okay, it’s not a new track from myself but one I just love playing out every time. I always get a great response from the crowd and it’s crazy as the crowd just sing along to it. If you don’t already know this track then it’s a real feel-good track with plenty of punch. The vocal just kicks in after the first break and lifts the crowd. Along with ‘My Guitar Man’ this is going to stay in my box for quite some time I think.”

8. Anek – ‘Two Sticks (Darius Syrossian Remix)’ – Material

“You’ll find if you listen to most of these tracks I have picked you’ll see that I’ve got a certain style going on and it’s very jackin in your face. This remix by Darius fits the bill. Once again a chunky track with plenty behind it and a chopped-up old school arrangement of the vocal that makes you want to dance. Darius adds a few of his classic, cool sounds from some old vintage keyboards and the dynamics of the track are big and in your face.”

9. Doublewave – ‘Blanco’ – Habla Music

“Another jackin’ track to add to the list of fine records I think. I’ve been supporting this from day one. It just fits perfectly in my sets with its cool, bouncy, bleepy sounds from the ghetto. Pretty much on a par with the Darius remix how it chops a hip hop sounding vocal with plenty of punch behind it. You’re guaranteed to see the crowd get their dancing shoes on.”

10. Green Velvet – ‘Robots’ – Relief Records

“I was honoured to be able to remix Green Velvet in November last year and think it’s one of the best remixes I’ve done. Every time I play it out I can hear the crowd singing along to the lyrics which were actually done by the man himself, Cajmere. It’s another chunky number of mine that has some cool quirky sounds throughout the track. If you haven’t got it yet, get a copy now as it destroys the dance floor.”

So there you have it. Plenty of big tracks to sink your teeth into including the one we bring to you today, Guitar Man, available now and which you can check out below.
