Following sightings over the weekend of a neon green blimp hovering over London with the Aphex Twin logo peaking out from inside 2014’s ‘0’, and further stencils spotted across the Atlantic in New York, the week has started off with multiple online whisperings concerning a new forthcoming album entitled ‘SYRO’ from electronic artist Richard D. James.
Following a tweet from the Aphex Twin linking to a .onion address (a domain with which Tor users will be quite familiar), fans and industry folk alike have been shifting in their seats at the possibility of new material to come from the artist. If you follow the link, the screen reveals what appears to be an album track list complete with BPM’s and the over-arching title ‘SYRO’. Somewhat like an Easter Egg hunt for the modern age, it is in this fashion that – as it happens, on his birthday – James makes the move to unveil his next project.
With Pitchfork earlier confirming that the album and track list found on the link are official, excitement continues to brew online despite no official confirmation from Warp Records or Richard D. James himself. However, with all the evidence pointing in the same direction, we think it’s only a matter of time now.
If you don’t have Tor Browser then have a look at the track list – as it appears on the link – below for yourself.
