Adam Beyer – ‘Teach Me’ EP

Adam Beyer – ‘Teach Me’ EP

It’s the weekend and it’s time for some Techno! Right on time then for the man who has basically run techno for the past 2-3 years. Adam Beyer, for those that are not familiar with the legend, owns Drumcode, which is one of THE most consistent labels in the scene. As they gun down release after release to be closer to their 150th landmark record, Mr. Beyer has brought out a wicked EP ‘Teach Me’.

The title track is a sensation, clambering its way through the speakers, the sample, the chords… it’s a monster that you might recognise from a set  he played earlier in the year for Tribal Sessions at Sankeys. Second track ‘Spaceman’ is a classic piece of Drumcode, funnily enough it sounds rather… spacey, with its opening trickling in, before the bass rattles through and the track opens fire.

The best track on this EP is ‘Stop Talking’. The track’s clever build up is only trumped by it’s even smarter breakdown, and it isn’t your typical techno track; the kicks have these really dark and ominous sounding layers, like it was built in an abandoned factory. Kudos to Adam Beyer for constantly finding the time to do all these amazing things: somehow he manages to bring out great music and at the same time it seems he never stops touring? Living the dream!

If you haven’t seen this man in action or for that matter even if you have, next month there is an event in Amsterdam called Awakenings at the amazing venue Gashouder and they are hosting a Drumcode special with Beyer himself leading the night. These events are phenomenal to even the most experienced of clubber, and this one in particular comes highly recommended!
